汪古部叛金将金界壕的关口转交给成吉思汗，成就了成吉思汗统一蒙古的大业，为此，成吉思汗降旨将阿剌海别吉嫁予汪古部的首领阿剌兀思。
阿剌海公主嫁到汪古部后，一度很有权势。阎复的《驸马高唐忠献王碑》称：“齐国大长公主(即阿剌海公主)，明惠有智略。祖宗征伐四出，尝摄留务(掌汪古部之事)。军国大政，率谘禀而后行．师出无内顾之忧．公主之力居多。”关于阿剌海曾主“军国大政”之事．赵珙在他的《蒙鞑备录》巾一再提到。赵珙出使在1221年(辛巳岁)，说当时阿剌海正值夫死“寡居”．也就是说镇国已死。书中还提到：“今领白鞑靼同事，日逐看经。有妇士数千人事之。凡征伐斩杀．皆自己出。”又说：“所谓白鞑靼者，……今彼部族之后，其国乃鞑主成吉思公主必姬权管国事。”
1221年．成吉思汗率蒙古大军进攻两域。出师以前．他封木华黎为国王，将汪古、弘吉剌等部蒙古及磊L、汉诸军“以图巾原”。木华黎率军南下攻来晋、陕等地，途经汗古部的封地．阿剌海公主(即监囝公主)亲自派人“劳王”。《元名臣事略》谓：“辛巳(1221)八月。王(术华黎)至天德．监国公主遣其臣习里吉思劳王，且飨将土。”《元史·木华黎传》更具体地说是“驻青冢”，即今呼和浩特市南郊的昭君墓，此时监国公主正在权管汪古部事。在此期间，汪古部军队围雁门时，坚州人王兆“继受监国公主教，迁昭武将军，坚卅I左付元帅。"同王兆一起降蒙的刘会的官职任命和承袭，也由监国公主“懿旨”决定。她还“遣行省不华收地河东”，“授(李)俭汾州左监军。”1228年(戊子年)，王楫(ji)“奉监国公主命，领省中都。"由以上事迹看，便可知道她的权势之大。1236年(丙申年)，窝阔台将“中原诸州民户分赐诸王、贵戚”，其中在“东平府户内拨赐”的共有诸王、驸马、功臣12家，其中就有“公主阿剌海”，可见这时还以她的名义代表汪古部。
1305年(元大德九年)，应高唐王(汪古部)术忽难之请，元成宗(铁穆尔)诏谥其“祖妣皇曾祖姑阿剌海别吉为齐国大长公主”。1311年，仁宗即位时，又应赵王术安之请，封她为“皇高祖姑赵国大长公主”。
