Langston University (LU) is a public land-grant historically black university in Langston, Oklahoma. It is the only historically black college in the state and the westernmost HBCU in the United States. The main campus in Langston is a rural setting 10 miles (16 km) east of Guthrie.

Langston is a public university located in Langston, Oklahoma. As a historically black college, LU has a strong history of and commitment to the education of black Americans. It is a small institution with an enrollment of 1,676 undergraduate students. The Langston acceptance rate is 100%.
Langston University is based in the central Oklahoma town from which it takes its name, and is the only historically black institution in the state. The town and university are named for John Mercer Langston, an abolitionist who became the first black congressman from Virginia, and was the great uncle to poet Langston Hughes.
