  2. Located in the filmmaking capital of the world, the AFI Conservatory is nestled in the hills overlooking Hollywood. The picturesque eight-acre campus is in the center of the professional filmmaking community with easy access to studios, networks and post-production facilities.

  3. All applicants for admission to the MFA or Certificate of Completion at the AFI Conservatory must submit the following: ONLINE APPLICATION. AFI uses the GradCAS application system. The application portal will be available starting on September 7, 2023 for Fall 2024 applicants. Please note applicants can only apply to a maximum of two programs.

  5. The AFI Conservatory MFA Cinematography program teaches filmmakers the skills needed to be an expert in the technical aspects of cinematography and how to make fast, informed and inspired creative decisions.

  6. The AFI Conservatory is a private non-profit graduate film school in the Hollywood Hills district of Los Angeles. Students (called "Fellows") learn from the masters in a collaborative, hands-on production environment with an emphasis on storytelling. The Conservatory is a program of the American Film Institute founded in 1969.
