Located in the filmmaking capital of the world, the AFI Conservatory is nestled in the hills overlooking Hollywood. The picturesque eight-acre campus is in the center of the professional filmmaking community with easy access to studios, networks and post-production facilities.
ONLINE APPLICATION. AFI uses the GradCAS application system. The application portal will be available starting on September 7, 2023 for Fall 2024 applicants. Please note applicants can only apply to a maximum of two programs. Applications for Fall 2024 are now closed for Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Producing and Screenwriting.
The AFI Conservatory is a private non-profit graduate film school in the Hollywood Hills district of Los Angeles. Students (called "Fellows") learn from the masters in a collaborative, hands-on production environment with an emphasis on storytelling. The Conservatory is a program of the American Film Institute founded in 1969.
15 de jun. de 2016 · In the years since its founding, the AFI Conservatory has evolved from a federally funded program akin to an artist colony — whose first class of filmmakers included Caleb Deschanel, Terrence Malick and Paul Schrader — to an accredited MFA program at a top film school with international renown.

The AFI Conservatory offers a Master of Fine Arts degree in six disciplines: Cinematography, Directing, Editing, Producing, Production Design and Screenwriting.
