HOLLYWOOD (UPI) - A chronic kidney illness apparently caused the 43-year-oid son of retired actor William Powell to take his own life, police reported. The body of William Powell Jr., a television writer, was found Wednesday in his apart- ment with a rambling, fourpage note.
His son William David Powell, who was a writer and producer, committed suicide violently in 1968 at the age of 43. Jean Harlow’s death was the beginning of a darkest period in Powell’s life. Not long after her passing, Powell discovered that he had cancer of the rectum while just in his forties.
