  3. Hon. Constantine John Phipps, Lord Mulgrave. 1744-92. He was born on 30 May 1744, the eldest of four sons of Constantine Phipps of Mulgrave Hall in Yorkshire, 1st Baron Mulgrave in the Irish peerage, and of his wife Lady Lepell Hervey, the granddaughter of the 1st Earl of Bristol and sister of Admiral Augustus John Hervey, the 3rd Earl of Bristol.

  4. Constantine John Phipps, 2nd Baron Mulgrave FRS PC (30 May 1744 – 10 October 1792) was an English explorer and officer in the Royal Navy. He served during the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence, seeing action in a number of battles and engagements.

  5. He succeeded his brother Constantine Phipps, 2nd Baron Mulgrave as Baron Mulgrave in the Peerage of Ireland in 1792, but did not succeed to his brother's British title. In 1794 he was granted a British peerage as Baron Mulgrave, entering the House of Lords, and in 1796 he was made Governor of Scarborough Castle.

  6. Constantine John Phipps was born in 1744, the eldest son of the first Baron Mulgrave, a peer of Ireland. In 1760, he entered the Navy, serving in the West Indies before advancing to the rank of lieutenant in 1762 and commander in 1763. He embarked upon a career in politics in 1768 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Lincoln.
