Johnson was an important transitional figure between ragtime and jazz piano styles. His style became known as Stride. As a boy, Johnson studied Classical music and Ragtime.
20 de mar. de 2024 · Mostly known as the 'Father of the Stride Piano,' James P. Johnson transformed music during the Harlem Renaissance (c. 1918–37). Through his compositions and performance style, he altered ragtime into a more ambitious musical presentation, incorporating elements of early jazz.
