Swing the Statue! is the second album by American singer/songwriter Victoria Williams, released in 1990 by Rough Trade Records. Background [ edit ] Williams’ debut, 1987's Happy Come Home , received some good critical reviews but made zero commercial impact, selling only fourteen thousand copies. [4]

7 de nov. de 2020 · Before MS set her back, Williams had released two records: Happy Come Home on Geffen in 1988, and (after that bombed) Swing the Statue! on Rough Trade two years later. It’s lost on me now how I became aware of her work–forced to guess, I’d say I took a flyer on Swing the Statue! from a cutout bin late in my time at Illinois.
By 1990, on the back of her second album, Swing the Statue! (Rough Trade), Williams could note, "Available on CD, cassette, LP and 8-track (only kidding)." Over a decade later, both of those classics are out of print in every format. Williams's latest recording, Sings Some Ol' Songs (2002, Dual-Tone), has been released only on CD.
