Philip Herbert, 5th Earl of Pembroke, 2nd Earl of Montgomery (1621 – 11 December 1669), was an English nobleman and politician. He was the son of Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke, and his first wife Susan de Vere. He succeeded his father in 1649.
Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke and 1st Earl of Montgomery, KG, KB, PC (10 October 1584 – 23 January 1650) was an English courtier, nobleman, and politician active during the reigns of James I and Charles I.
When Philip Herbert 5th Earl of Pembroke was christened on 21 February 1622, in Enfield, Middlesex, England, his father, Sir Philip Herbert 4th Earl of Pembroke, was 37 and his mother, Lady 4th Countess of Pembroke Susan de Vere, was 34.

PHILIP HERBERT, 5th earl Pembroke (1619 - 1669) sat as lord Herbert for Glamorgan in the Long Parliament, following his father's politics and becoming parliamentary nominee for the lord lieutenancies of Monmouthshire, Glamorgan and Brecknock (where he was soon superseded by his father), and presiding over the Commonwealth Council of State in 1652.
His eldest surviving son, Philip (1621–1669), became 5th Earl of Pembroke, and 2nd Earl of Montgomery; he was twice married, and was succeeded in turn by three of his sons, of whom Phillip, the 7th Earl, was notorious for bouts of homicidal mania, while Thomas, the 8th Earl (c. 1656–1733), was a person of note during the reigns ...
