The school thrived, and, in 1900, was officially named “Onancock High School.” The building was expanded to meet increasing enrollment. There were three teachers serving 111 lower school and 18 high school students.

The Onancock School property has been educating children on the Eastern Shore for over 150 years. The present building, now 99 years old, is in the midst of rehabilitation for re-use as a community and cultural center to benefit all residents and visitors to the Eastern Shore.
