Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry PC (Ire) (1668 – 16 March 1741) was an Irish peer and politician. Life. He was the son of William FitzMaurice, 20th Baron Kerry, and Constance Long. He succeeded his father in March 1696/97 and was invested as a Privy Counsellor before April 1711.

27 de abr. de 2022 · 1st Baron of Kerry - Thomas FitzMaurice FitzThomas - was born about 1220. Around 1260, Thomas was created Baron of Kerry and Lixnaw. This is said to have made him the Premier Baron of Ireland. He founded the Franciscan Monastery at Ardfert (near Tralee) in A.D. 1253.

Fitzmaurice, Thomas (d. 1590), 16th baron of Kerry and Lixnaw , landowner and rebel, was the fourth and youngest son of Edmund Fitzmaurice, 10th baron of Kerry and Lixnaw, and his wife Una, daughter of Teige MacMahon of Thomond.
In 1692, the marriage of Thomas Fitzmaurice and Anne Petty, the only daughter of the scientist and philosopher, Sir William Petty (1623-1687) transformed the family fortunes. In 1751 their son, John Fitzmaurice (1706-1761) legally changed his name to Petty. He was created 1 st Earl of Shelburne in 1753.
