- Strategic Plan
The Dalton School, originally called the Children's University School, was founded by Helen Parkhurst in 1919. After experimentation in her own one-room school with Maria Montessori, Parkhurst visited other progressive schools in Europe including Bedales School and its founder and headmaster John Haden Badley in England.
Dalton School High School offers a rigorous and innovative curriculum that engages and inspires students to develop independence and take ownership of their learning. Students are challenged to explore their intellectual, ethical, and emotional potential in a diverse and supportive community that values academic excellence, civic engagement, and social justice.
The Dalton School is a national and international model of progressive education based on individualized learning and academic excellence. Founded by Helen Parkhurst in 1919, it fosters independent and responsible learners and thinkers from kindergarten to twelfth grade.
3 de may. de 2024 · Fielding the largest team out of over 600 schools, Dalton squared off against almost 1,600 of the country’s top elementary school chess players. Forty-four Dalton students in Grades K-6 traveled to Columbus, Ohio on April 26-28 to compete in the National Elementary Chess Championships.
