Born in Paris, Gladys Marie Deacon was the daughter of American citizens Edward Parker Deacon and his wife Florence, daughter of Admiral Charles H. Baldwin. She had three sisters, and a brother who died in infancy.
BOSTON, July Edgar Parker Deacon, member of a wealthy Boston family, prominent in society for some years, and who was principal in a sensational shooting affray in Parle, is dead. Mr. Deacon was a victim of brain disease.
In 1892, Deacon made headlines when he shot and killed Monsieur Emille Abeille at his wife's apartments in the Hotel Splendide, Cannes, France. He was charged with manslaughter and sent to prison for a year but was pardoned by President Carnot after serving only a few months.
