Robert Lockwood Jr. (March 27, 1915 – November 21, 2006) was an American Delta blues guitarist, who recorded for Chess Records and other Chicago labels in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the only guitarist to have learned to play directly from Robert Johnson.

Lockwood even inverted his name, from Robert Lockwood, Jr., to Robert Jr. Lockwood, because of his relationship with Johnson. Within a couple of years, Lockwood was playing at local house parties and gambling establishments and on street corners to help support his mother.
Lockwood carried the Johnson legacy in grand fashion but proved that he could cross musical boundaries and master whatever styles he chose. His impact on the blues began to be felt in 1941, the year he cut his first records, including “Take a Little Walk With Me,” in Chicago for Bluebird.
When Lockwood's mother became romantically involved with the charismatic rambler in Helena, AR, the quiet teenager suddenly gained a role model and a close friend -- so close that Lockwood considered himself Johnson's stepson.
