James Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan (1693-1719), was a French-born Jacobite of Irish descent. He was the son of Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan and his wife Honora Burke.
When James Francis Edward Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan was born on 30 March 1693, in Paris, Île-de-France, France, his father, Marshall Patrick Sarsfield 1st Earl of Lucan, was 36 and his mother, Honorina de Bourk y McCarthy. Condesa vda. de Lucán, was 19.
27 de abr. de 2022 · James Francis Edward Sarsfield, 2nd Earl of Lucan (1693–1719), served in both the French and Spanish armies. He died unmarried in St Omer aged twenty-six. With his death, the Earldom of Lucan became extinct.

Patrick Sarsfield was one of the senior commanders of James VII & II (deposed in 1688) in battles in Ireland with William of Orange which determined the latter's takeover with his co-regnant wife, Mary II of England, of the English, Scottish and Irish thrones (the Glorious Revolution and First Jacobite Wars).

Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan (c. 1655 – 21 August 1693) was an Irish soldier and Jacobite. Killed at Landen in 1693 while serving in the French army , he is now best remembered as an Irish patriot and military hero.
Patrick Sarsfield, created by James II., in February, 1691, Earl of Lucan, Viscount Tully and Baron of Rosberry, came of the best Irish blood on both sides; his father's family being Norman, his mother's of the old Irish stock.
