Michael Troughton (born 2 March 1955) is an English actor, teacher and writer. He is best known for his television roles including Melish in Minder and Sir Piers Fletcher-Dervish in The New Statesman. He is the son of actor Patrick Troughton and the younger brother of actor David Troughton .

Actor: Biography. I didn't always want to be an actor. When I was 11, I wanted to be a mad scientist. I had converted my bedroom into a science laboratory complete with a bench, chemistry set, electronic experiments and microscope. My walls were covered with maps of the Moon, planets and the night sky.
Despite the stresses of wartime, Michael Troughton said his parents’ experiences in Great Yarmouth formed a strong bond between them and Norfolk.
