John III of the Palatinate (7 May 1488 in Heidelberg – 3 February 1538) was the 48th Archbishop of Regensburg. He reigned from 1507 until his death.

Palatinate, in German history, the lands of the count palatine, a title held by a leading secular prince of the Holy Roman Empire. Geographically, the Palatinate was divided between two small territorial clusters: the Rhenish, or Lower, Palatinate and the Upper Palatinate.

Son of John II (1492–1557) Count Palatine of Simmern. See Palatine Cadets. Married firstly Marie of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1519 – 1567) daughter of Casimir, Margrave of Brandenburg-Bayreuth and secondly Amalia of Neuenahr (1539 – 1602) daughter of Gumprecht of Neuenahr.
John III was the king of Portugal from 1521 to 1557. His long reign saw the development of Portuguese seapower in the Indian Ocean, the occupation of the Brazilian coast, and the establishment of the Portuguese Inquisition and of the Society of Jesus.
