17 de feb. de 2021 · In November 1905 Mahler made four piano rolls for M. Welte & Sohne in Leipzig. These piano rolls are the only accurate and detailed impression of how Mahler played his music. The Gustav Mahler Vereinigung in Hamburg just restored one of the few Steinway Welte-Mignon pianos left.

Mahler recorded all four of his rolls in a single session on November 9, 1905. He chose two of his songs, the vocal finale to his Symphony # 4 and the first movement of his Symphony # 5 (which he had completed the previous year), all in arrangements for piano solo.
