7 de jun. de 2024 · In March 1660 Sir William Davenant, the dramatist and poet laureate, who still had in his possession a patent for a playhouse granted by Charles I, had taken a lease of Lisle's Tennis Court in Portugal Street near Lincoln's Inn Fields, for conversion into a theatre.
