The High School is a 12–18 mixed, Church of Ireland, independent secondary school in Rathgar, Dublin, Ireland. It was established in 1870 at Harcourt Street before moving to Rathgar in 1971. It amalgamated with The Diocesan School for Girls in 1974, becoming co-educational.
The High School was founded in 1870 by the Governors of the Schools Founded by Erasmus Smith, Esquire (commonly known as The Erasmus Smith Trust) which was established by Royal Charter in 1669. The Erasmus Smith Trust is the ultimate authority in the conduct and ownership of The High and Diocesan School CLG.
The High School admits pupils in accordance with its ethos together with the regulations of the Department of Education and Skills concerning age and previous schooling. We are currently finalizing the entry lists for the 2021 and 2022 cohorts.
Goals. 1. To offer quality education in English education, creative writing, humanities, linguistics, literature, and technical communications. 2. To offer educational classes that: foster effective reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking. promote an understanding of literature and language.
