Kathy Kirby (born Catherine Ethel O'Rourke; 20 October 1938 – 20 May 2011) [2] was an English singer. She is best known for her cover version of Doris Day 's "Secret Love" and for representing the United Kingdom in the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest where she finished in second place.

In little more than a year, the attractive blonde from Ilford in Essex made a big name as a recording artist, with two hit records – Dance On and Secret Love – selling almost a million copies. She was rewarded with her own BBC television programme, The Kathy Kirby Show, on Sunday 3 May 1964.
Kathy became one of the biggest stars of the mid-sixties, especially after her triumphant billing in 1965's Royal Command Variety Performance and two series of her own BBC TV show Kathy Kirby Sings. Her career started to go off the boil in 1967, and, remarkably, it was not long before sadly she was all but forgotten.
