Prince Christian Victor was the first son of Princess Helena, the third daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Christian Victor of Schleswig Holstein. He followed a military career and fought in the Ashanti Campaign and the Boer War. It was during the latter war that the Prince died on the 29th October 1900, after contracting malaria.
