Walter Devereux, 10th Baron Ferrers of Chartley, created 1st Viscount Hereford, KG (1488 – 17 September 1558) was an English courtier and parliamentarian . Baron Ferrers. Walter was the son and heir of John Devereux, 9th Baron Ferrers and Cecily Bourchier, [1] a member of the noble Woodville family.

Portrait of Walter Devereux (1539–1576), First Earl of Essex. Walter Devereux succeeded his grandfather as Viscount Hereford and Lord Ferrers in 1558. He was joint custodian of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1568.
