Francis II (François de Lorraine; 27 February 1572 – 14 October 1632) was the son of Charles III, Duke of Lorraine and Claude of Valois. He was Duke of Lorraine briefly in 1625, quickly abdicating in favour of his son.

François de Lorraine, 2nd duke de Guise, (born Feb. 24, 1519, Bar, France—died Feb. 24, 1563, Orléans), French soldier and loyal servant to the French crown, the greatest figure produced by the house of Guise.
Biography. First son of Henri II (q.v.) and Catherine de' Medici (q.v.), married Mary Queen of Scots (q.v.) in 1558 and succeeded his father as King of France in 1559. François held court in the châteaux of the Loire Valley.
