Shadows Collide with People is the only Frusciante solo album to feature Red Hot Chili Peppers' drummer Chad Smith. Frusciante also made acoustic and demo versions of these tracks available to fans through his official site as an alternative to the highly-produced sound of the record.

This album contains 18 songs (19 on the Japanese import), all of them are perfectly-produced by the man himself and yet again, they’re showing how many talents a real musician can have.
In February 2004 John released the positively-received Shadows Collide With People. A well-produced and orchestrated album, it pulled together the will power and the resolve that John held after his struggle with drugs and mental illness, and features band mates Flea and Chad Smith on several tracks.
“Shadows Collide with People” was recorded about the same time as “By The Way” (RHCP) was being recorded. This album marks the fourth solo album by John, which includes the help of his good friend Josh Klinghoffer and also Flea and Chad Smith from the ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’.
