The Blues Music Awards, formerly known as the W. C. Handy Awards (or "The Handys"), are awards presented by the Blues Foundation, a non-profit organization set up to foster blues heritage. The awards were originally named in honor of W. C. Handy, "Father of the Blues".
The W.C. Handy Blues Awards (now Blues Music Award) are presented annually in Memphis, Tennessee from the Blues Foundation since 1980 for special services to the blues. Ike Turner won the award in 2002 for his album Here And Now.
