Music direction is by Arturo Díez-Boscovich, Spanish lyric translation by Roser Batalla and Spanish libretto translation by Ignacio García May. Orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick.
The album, featuring Banderas and the original cast, marks the first time that the musical has been recorded in Spanish. Featuring unforgettable music by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, the musical won six Tony Awards® – including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Score.
Banderas then starred in and co-directed Spanish-language productions of musicals at the venue, including Marvin Hamlisch's A Chorus Line (2019) and Stephen Sondheim's Company (2022). A broken foot at the age of 15 put an end to Banderas's wish to become a professional footballer.
