Exile on Mainstream is the first compilation album by American rock band Matchbox Twenty. The album was released in two parts: the first was an EP , featuring seven new songs that emerged from a 12-song recording session, produced by Steve Lillywhite .

That day is here, with the release of Exile On Mainstream. The group has survived multiple trends using a simple formula: honesty. Despite its sunny compositions, Matchbox Twenty addresses serious topics (“3AM” is inspired by singer Rob Thomas’ mother’s battle with cancer and “Push” is about emotional abuse).
