West Side Story (conocida como Amor sin barreras en Hispanoamérica) es una película estadounidense musical de romance dirigida por Steven Spielberg. La película está protagonizada por Ansel Elgort y Rachel Zegler con Ariana DeBose , Rita Moreno y Daniel Alvarez como actores de reparto.
Inspired by William Shakespeare 's play Romeo and Juliet, the story is set in the mid-1950s in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, then a multiracial, blue-collar neighborhood. The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.
Plot. In 1957, the Jets, a gang of white youths, fight the Sharks, a gang of Puerto Rican youths, for control of San Juan Hill on Manhattan's Upper West Side. NYPD Lieutenant Schrank tells the gangs that their conflict is pointless, since the neighborhood will soon be demolished to make way for Lincoln Center.
