Herbert Charles Coningsby Tippet (23 November 1891 – 28 November 1947) was a leading British amateur golfer, golf club administrator, and golf course architect in the years between the wars.
14 de nov. de 2009 · Charles died aged 52 on 7th August 1915, the day after landing at Suvla Bay on the Gallipoli peninsular and lies buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Turkey. A write up on him told me that his son Capt Herbert Charles Coningsby TIPPET, joined his father’s regiment; serving with 4th Battalion he survived the war, winning the Military Cross.

In 1921 she married former reservist army officer Herbert Charles Coningsby Tippet, known as Charles, (1891-1947) at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, London. Tippet had been invalided out of the army, suffering from shell shock after serving with distinction on the western front; and had begun a new career as a golf club secretary and golf ...
Shand's mother remarried Herbert Charles Tippet, a golf course designer. Contrary to some newspaper reports, young Shand was not abandoned by his mother and stepfather but was taken to live with them in Westbury, Long Island, New York, in 1921. He left out this fact from his autobiography, giving the erroneous impression of having been abandoned.
