4 de feb. de 2017 · Assistant Chief Robert “Rex” Morris was suspended after he unexpectedly fell through a fire-damaged floor in a burning North Stamford home on Deepwood Road on Jan. 21. His suspension was lifted Friday. Morris, 68, said he was not injured in the fall and was able to get himself out of the home unscathed.
21 de sept. de 2023 · Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons announced Thursday that Rex Morris will become interim fire chief starting Oct. 2, 2023. Morris is a professional firefighter with more than 50 years' experience, including leadership positions in the FDNY. He's served as assistant chief of volunteer services for the Stamford Fire Department since 2014.

He was one of the first to arrive at the World Trade Center on the fateful morning of 9/11 and was among the lucky ones who survived. When he retired about ten years ago, his son took over the post. “I had no choice, really,” jokes Captain Morris.
