The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Formed in 1979, they recorded a few demos and played a handful of live shows until they first split up in 1986 when Weinrich joined as lead vocalist for Saint Vitus.
The band signed to Relapse Records and recorded 2017’s “Sacred”, an album showing The Obsessed back with pure vengeance. Sacred brought the band to venues and festival stages around the world. In 2022 the band became a four piece with the addition of Chris Angleberger on bass and Jason Taylor on guitar.

Rounded out by Wino's lyrical honesty and iconic throaty vocals, Sacred is an album that further pushes THE OBSESSED into the annals of heavy metal history and that was well worth the two-plus decade wait.
3 de abr. de 2017 · If you never heard The Obsessed, I’d suggest starting with the classic 80s albums, but Sacred is well worth your time and a very good addition to the Wino cellar. Face it, everyone needs more Wino in their lives.
Whether Sacred should’ve been released as The Obsessed or a Spirit Caravan album, there’s no denying that it’s as fun and energetic as you’d expect from one of the leading fixtures of downer rock. Wino fans will know what to expect as the stoner jams, punk trips, and all the riffs in between fit right into his unshakeable legacy.
