  5. Biography. 2nd Earl of Lovelace. During 1847-8 Ralph was a pupil at Wilhelm von Fellen berg's Pestalozsian school at Hofwyl, near Berne. On 14 November 1860, Ralph received a Royal Licence from Queen Victoria to take the name of Milbanke instead of King, and to quarter the arms of Milbanke with that of King.
