The Taichang Emperor (Chinese: 泰昌帝; pinyin: Tàichāng Dì; 28 August 1582 – 26 September 1620), personal name Zhu Changluo (Chinese: 朱常洛), was the 15th emperor of the Ming dynasty. He was the eldest son of the Wanli Emperor and succeeded his father as emperor in 1620.
El Emperador Taichang (chino: 泰昌帝; pinyin: Tàichāng Dì ; 28 de agosto de 1582 – 26 de septiembre de 1620), nombre personal Zhu Changluo (chino: 朱常洛 ), fue el decimoquinto Emperador de la dinastía Ming. Era el hijo mayor del emperador Wanli y sucedió a su padre como emperador en 1620.
In the 1580s and 1590s, he attempted to promote his third son, Zhu Changxun (the son of his favorite concubine, Lady Zheng), as crown prince, but faced strong opposition from officials. This led to ongoing conflicts between the emperor and his ministers for over fifteen years.
