1 de dic. de 2006 · Brothers Damien and Tourie Escobar form the group Nuttin But Stringz, which is a venture into hip-hop violin. Their new CD is called Struggle from the Subway to the Charts.
Hip-hop and classical music might seem to be at opposite ends of the cultural spectrum, but not for the young New York brothers Damien and Tourie Escobar. Classically trained violinists, they use their instruments in original music that draws on hip-hop as well as reggae, jazz, and alternative rock.
New York's Nuttin' But Stringz were a genre-bending violin duo featuring siblings Tourie Escobar (b. 1985) and Damien Escobar (b. 1987), who played a dynamic combination of classical, hip-hop, jazz, and R&B. Raised in Queens, New York, the Escobars first began playing violin in grade school, and progressed quickly.
