Suzanna van Baerle or Susanna Huygens (8 March 1599 – 10 May 1637) was a Dutch woman known for the book-long poem Dagh-werck that was written as a close collaboration with her husband, Constantijn Huygens.
Suzanna van Baerle (gedoopt Amsterdam, 8 maart 1599 – Den Haag, 10 mei 1637) was de echtgenote van de dichter en diplomaat Constantijn Huygens. Dankzij zijn geschriften is er veel bekend over haar leven, dat zich afspeelde in de hoogste kringen van Nederland.
In 1626 Constantijn fell in love with Suzanna van Baerle after earlier courtship by the Huygens family to win her for his brother Maurits had failed. Constantijn wrote several sonnets for her, in which he calls her Sterre (Star). They wed on 6 April 1627.

At the same time it paints a vivid picture of Huygens’ youth and adulthood, and the many fruits of his science. Huygens played a key role in the ‘scientific revolution’ and the ‘Huygens Principle’ on the wave theory of light helped establish his reputation.
This double portrait of Constantijn Huygens and Suzanna van Baerle is an exception to this rule. It is remarkable that he is shown in profile, while she bends forward slightly to look at us. The couple are holding a sheet of music, as a sign of the harmony in their marriage.
