10 de ago. de 2020 · Most band members have passed on, but Daryl Hooper has kept the flame going with his new incarnation of The Seeds that have been playing the old songs, writing new songs, and were even performing live shows up until that darned pandemic sucker-punched the world in the face.
The band's classic line-up featured frontman Sky Saxon, guitarist Jan Savage (born Buck Jan Reeder), keyboardist Daryl Hooper and drummer Rick Andridge. In 1968, the band changed their name to Sky Saxon and the Seeds, with Savage and Andridge departing the band.
El teclista Daryl Hooper fue el que más aporte musical dio para el sonido de esta banda. The Seeds fue una de las primeras bandas en usar un teclado por bajo (como Ray Manzarek, el teclista de The Doors). El guitarrista Jan Savage y el baterista Rick Andridge completaron el cuarteto; el vocalista Sky tocaba la guitarra pero haciendo los bajos.

For decades, the name The Seeds was most closely identified with the activities of their eccentric vocalist, the late Sky Saxon, but the first, path-finding line-up was always a collaboration, the musical director of which was, without a doubt, keyboard whiz Daryl Hooper.
