Henrietta Godolphin, 2nd Duchess of Marlborough (19 July 1681 – 24 October 1733) was the daughter of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, general of the army, and Sarah Jennings, Duchess of Marlborough, close friend and business manager of Queen Anne.

Henrietta Churchill (b. 19 Jul 1681 – d. 24 Oct 1733) married Francis Godolphin, 2nd Earl of Godolphin (b. 3 Sep 1678 – d. 17 Jan 1766), son of Sidney Godolphin, 1 st Earl of Godolphin. They had three children: William, Marquess of Blandford (b. 1700 – d. 24 Aug 1731) m.
Sarah later had famous disagreements with many important people, including her daughter Henrietta Godolphin, 2nd Duchess of Marlborough; the architect of Blenheim Palace, John Vanbrugh; Prime Minister Robert Walpole; King George II; and his wife, Queen Caroline.

She disparaged her "poor friend" by announcing that Henrietta was sub-jected "to a most violent ridicule"7 when, in 1723, her youngest daughter, Lady Mary Godolphin, was born. In her own life-time Henrietta's intimacy with Congreve attracted a good deal of attention. In February, 1729, Anne, Viscountess of Irwin, wrote her father, Lord Carlisle:
Her father was a rising soldier in the service of Charles II, her mother a member of the household of Mary of Modena, Duchess of York. In 1698 she married Francis Godolphin son of Sidney Godolphin and his wife, Margaret Blagge whom she bore two sons and three daughters.
