Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale (née Jivubai Shirke) was the wife of Sambhaji, and referred to as Chatrapati Maharani of the Maratha Kingdom. She was also the mother of Shahu I. Sambhaji had shared with her his power as the emperor.

Maharadnyi Yesubai – महाराज्ञी येसूबाई. The book is a biography of Maharani Yesubai. With utmost diplomacy, she protected Shahu despite of being in the prison. She saved Rajaram Maharaj due to which the Maratha army fought against Aurangzeb.

Balaji also gained the release of Shahu's mother, Yesubai, from Mughal captivity in 1719. The Peshwas later became de facto rulers of the Maratha Empire. Under the Peshwas, Chhatrapati was limited to simply a monarchial figurehead. Maratha Empire dominated most of the Indian subcontinent.

Married at a young age, with her intelligence and steady resilience she soon found favor with her father-in-law Shivaji Maharaj, who considered her a good influence on his son.
Maharani Yesubai: Directed by Bhalji Pendharkar. With Ramesh Deo. After the demise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati sambhaji maharaj became the ruler of the Maratha Kingdom.
