Ernst Leopold Eduard Wilhelm Josias Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha (14 January 1935 – 27 June 1996) was the second child and eldest son of Johann Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Feodora Freiin von der Horst.
Ernst August Karl Johann Leopold Alexander Eduard (* 21. Juni 1818 in Coburg; † 22. August 1893 in Reinhardsbrunn bei Gotha) war von 1844 bis 1893 Herzog von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha .
Biographie. E. erhielt seine Ausbildung bei seinem Onkel Leopold in Brüssel, auf der Universität Bonn und im Garde-Reiterregiment in Dresden. 25jährig folgte er seinem Vater in der Regierung in den nur in Personalunion verbundenen Herzogtümern Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha.
