Jesse Edwin Davis III (September 21, 1944 – June 22, 1988) was an American guitarist. He was well regarded as a session artist and solo performer, was a member of Taj Mahal's backing band and played with musicians such as Eric Clapton, John Lennon, and George Harrison.

In 2002, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, permanently ensconced alongside guitar legends such as Barney Kessel, Lowell Fulson, Charlie Christian, and Elvin Bishop. The surviving three-fourths of the Natch’l Blues band (Taj, Blackwell, and Gilmore) reunited to perform at the ceremony.
Jesse Ed Davis was such a master of guitar among other things. His contributions on this album are so deep and you can tell how close he was to Taj. Their interplay together is so incredibly tight.
