Mojo Man was recorded in New York City in 1961 and, within its grooves Robertson plays guitar solos that were pushing the envelope in rock-and-roll circles. Surely, he had been listening to the top Chicago bluesmen like Buddy Guy and Otis Rush and perhaps B.B. King, too.
When Hawkins and his new Hawks lineup recorded the album Mojo Man in New York City in 1961, Robertson's lead guitar work showed the influence of other Chicago bluesmen such as Buddy Guy and Otis Rush as well.
