Magdalena of Saxony (7 March 1507 – 25 January 1534) was Margravine of Brandenburg, as well as Electoral Princess of Brandenburg. [1] She was the daughter of George the Bearded, Duke of Saxony and his wife Barbara.
Magdalene (or Magdalena) of Saxony was a princess of Saxony, and consort Electress of Brandenburg following her marriage. Magdelene was born 7 March 1507 at Schloss Dresden, the youngest surviving daughter of Georg, Herzog zu Sachsen in Meissen, and his wife, Barbara Jagiellonka, Princess of Poland.

The artist’s attention to such details enabled the identification of this sitter: a signet ring in a companion portrait of her husband in the Philadelphia Museum of Art reveals her to be the Saxon princess Magdalena.
