John Campbell, Earl of Atholl (died 1333) was a Scottish nobleman. Background. John, also known as Iain, was the son of Sir Neil Campbell by his wife Mary Bruce. His grandparents were Sir Cailean Mór Campbell, Afraig of Carrick, Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale and Marjorie, Countess of Carrick.
The Mormaer or Earl of Atholl was the title of the holder of a medieval comital lordship straddling the highland province of Atholl ( Ath Fodhla ), now in northern Perthshire. Atholl is a special Mormaerdom, because a King of Atholl is reported from the Pictish period.
