Gita Gopinath (Calcuta, 8 de diciembre de 1971) es una economista y académica indio-estadounidense. Desde 2022 es primera subdirectora gerente del Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI). [1]
Gita Gopinath (born 8 December 1971) is an Indian-American economist who has served as the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), since 21 January 2022. She had previously served as chief economist of the IMF between 2019 and 2022.
Gita Gopinath is the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and of Economics at Harvard University. She is currently on leave of public service from the economics department to serve as the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
She has authored numerous research articles on exchange rates, trade and investment, international financial crises, monetary policy, debt, and emerging market crises. Gita Gopinath is the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as of January 21, 2022.
