Wayde van Niekerk ( Ciudad del Cabo, 15 de julio de 1992) es un atleta sudafricano de carreras de velocidad, que en la especialidad de los 400 m ostenta el título olímpico y mundial y una medalla de plata en los Juegos de la Mancomunidad.
Wayde van Niekerk ( South African English : / ˈweɪd fʌn niːˈkɛərk /, Afrikaans: [fan niˈkɛrk]; born 15 July 1992) is a South African track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres. In the 400 metres, he is the current world and Olympic record holder, having set the record in the Olympic finals.
21 de jun. de 2024 · South Africa's 400m world record-holder Wayde van Niekerk overcame compatriot Akani Simbine in the half-lap sprint at the 2024 Meeting Madrid on Friday (21 June). Van Niekerk, a former world silver medallist over the 200m, outdipped Simbine in a season’s best time of 20.29 seconds.
