Louis Jacques Balsan (September 16, 1868 – November 4, 1956) was a French aviator and industrialist, born at Châteauroux (Indre) in 1868, who was the second husband of society beauty Consuelo Vanderbilt, Duchess of Marlborough.

8 de ene. de 2021 · Consuelo Vanderbilt was a willowy beauty of 17 when the 26-year-old Frenchman and future aviation pioneer, Jacques Balsan, first saw her and fell in love. It would be nearly another 26 years before the two would finally marry in 1921 and Consuelo would find happiness with Jacques in France, and later in Southampton.
Consuelo's second wedding, on 4 July 1921, was to Lt. Col. Jacques Balsan, a record-breaking pioneer French balloon, aircraft, and hydroplane pilot who once worked with the Wright Brothers. Also a textile manufacturing heir, Balsan was the younger brother of Étienne Balsan, an early lover of Coco Chanel.
10 de nov. de 2019 · It was here that Jacques Balsan passed away in 1956. Bereaved, Consuelo kept the apartment until her own death in 1964. It was eventually purchased by Patricia Kennedy Lawford in 1966, and sold by her estate in 2007 for a little north of twelve million dollars.
Following her divorce from Churchill, on July 4, 1921, Consuelo married Jacques Balsan, a French lieutenant-colonel in the cavalry and a passionate balloonist. (She had her marriage to Churchill annulled in 1926, and married Balsan a second time in a Catholic ceremony.)
Jacques BALSAN fut très tôt membre de l'Aéro-Club de France et son Vice-Président de 1905 à 1921. Il fonde en 1908 le prix de l’Aéro-Club de France pour la photographie aérienne.
