Horace Austin Warner "Haw" Tabor (November 26, 1830 – April 10, 1899), also known as The Bonanza King of Leadville and The Silver King, was an American prospector, businessman, and Republican politician. His success in Leadville, Colorado's silver mines made him one of the wealthiest men in Colorado.
As one of Colorado’s most notable silver barons, Horace Tabor helped shape the foundation and the future of the Centennial State.

Horace Tabor is by far the most famous mining man in Colorado history. His name will forever be closely tied to the great Leadville excitement of 1877 to 1879. Tabor came to Colorado during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush, and for the next 40 years dedicated his energies to mining.
