Dame Maura Patricia McGowan, DBE (born 27 January 1957), styled The Hon. Mrs Justice McGowan, is a judge of the High Court of England and Wales.
Maura McGowan was a barrister and then appointed a High Court Judge in 2014. She was called to the Bar of Ireland and of Northern Ireland and was made a bencher of Kings Inns in 2023. She was named Lawyer of the Year by Legal Business in 2014 and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Chambers UK in 2016.
The Honourable Mrs Justice McGowan, or 'Maura' as she prefers to be called, is a former 2 Bedford Row QC. One of the preeminent criminal barristers of her generation, she is among the true elite of judges – female and male – in this country.
