3 de may. de 2023 · ‘The Power Of And’ is the long-awaited solo debut from The Spongetones founder Steve Stoeckel. For decades, Steve Stoeckel has been penning and performing highlight compositions with his legendary band, on duo recordings with fellow Spongetone Jamie Hoover, and most recently as part of the far-flung collective POP CO-OP.
The Spongetones story begins in 1978 at a time when rock and roll hung in the balance between corporate pablum and punk rock fury, but like their Southern forerunners Big Star before them, the individual talents who formed the band had something more basic and heartfelt in mind.
One of the most underrated power pop bands of the ’80s, the Spongetones released several albums of effortlessly catchy guitar pop that captured the feel of ’60s British Invasion pop with remarkable accuracy and innocent charm.
